DICE will tweak Battlefield 2042 maps to fix the game’s ‘major issues’

Battlefield 2042 has failed to be the big game changer in the series that EA and DICE hoped it would be at the end of last year for many reasons, the company even goes so far as to blame Halo Infinite. Undoubtedly, part of the problem with the game lies in the layout of the maps and the resulting game dynamics. That is why DICE has announced an ambitious plan to modify part of these existing maps in order to “fix the “major issues” in the game.

Through a new entry in the game blogDICE warns that making these changes it will take time and not all of them can be updated at oncebut they will have to be staggered. Kaleidoscope it will be the first map to receive these improvements and they expect it to be ready for the start of Season 1. The next maps coming to the game will already be designed with these considerations in mind.

DICE assures that the majority of problems found in the maps of Battlefield 2042 have to do with the size and time it takes to get from one place to anotherthe intensity that can be generated in certain hot spotsthe lines of sight that allow you to attack very distant enemies, poorly defined paths that flow into these mentioned hot zones or the lack of coverage in certain areas. In short, several aspects that the study will try to correct in the existing maps.

Besides, the study comments that they could take other measures regarding the size and orientation of the mapsthe number of players and objectives to capture or the number of vehicles available on some maps.

“You can expect future maps to be smaller in scale than most of our launch maps. This also means that we are reviewing a possible reduction in the number of sectors and total capture points per map when playing with 128 players. We’re also thinking of changing the shape of the maps to give them more of a sense of direction. We believe that moving from a common Battlefield standard to a game space from a square shape to a rectangular shape which is more commonly used in some of our older entries in the franchise can better incentivize moving forward instead of spinning sideways. We think this can help focus areas of combat, allow you to have a more focused awareness.”
