Navarre Beach front surges previous November tourism report for the duration of pandemic

Due to the fact of the worldwide pandemic and financial recession that took around most of 2020, Navarre Beach, like numerous vacationer locations, observed its tourism tax revenues plummet in March, April and May well as shorelines shut down and uncertainty about the coronavirus crippled getaway markets globally.

But curiously, by the stop of the year Navarre Beach front was bucking the pattern viewed through a lot of the relaxation of the Panhandle — its tourism tax earnings was up almost 27% in October and 55% in November, a surge that helped soften the downturn seen at the beginning of the pandemic.

“We shed our cash in March, April and Might, but we even now came in at $3.5 million for the full year, which is only $400,000 less than the 12 months prior,” Santa Rosa County tourism director Julie White said in an interview with the News Journal on Wednesday. “We would have built way around ($3.5 million) if we hadn’t been shut down in March, April and Might, so we would have had a report-breaking calendar year, more than $4 million.”

Connie and Paul Reinhardt, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Mike and Cissie Roma, of South Royalton, Vermont, chat Wednesday while having lunch at Windjammers on the Pier overlooking Navarre Beach.

By comparison, neighboring Pensacola Seashore noticed its tourism improvement tax income jump just about 3% in November and Perdido Crucial revenue dropped 30% in November.

Rusty Branch, the neighborhood engagement director for Innisfree Accommodations, which manages quite a few Pensacola Beach front motels, explained the November downturn was a direct end result of pandemic fears, Hurricane Sally destruction and the closure of the Three Mile Bridge — factors which affected Pensacola Beach front more than Navarre Beach front.
